August was a great month for the community as we had almost reached our goal that increased $250 from July. Just by clicking on the donations page you can see the steady increase in donations and support and to add to that the community has increased it's user base to over 200 registrations. Also last month was the first month the community had received over 1 million hits on the website and sent gamers around 10 Gigz of web traffic and around 2.7 Terabytes of data on our game-servers!! The community reaction to the new website launched back in June has been simply tremendous and the new support has been welcomed (developers, admins, and funding). I feel it is safe to say that the community is thriving and has the potential to be one of the largest gaming communities in the North American Region with friendly and quality servers. We have proved to the community that the donations go directly back into the servers by adding more. We have many plans in store for the website, player stats, competitive team, videos, PAX09, and new contests but we need to keep those donations coming! Also i would like to announce that the Five Elements Community will be fully supporting Left 4 Dead. As soon as it is possible we will be adding a large amount of left 4 dead servers depending on the specs (right now i could see 4-8 servers) and yes current admins access will carry over to those servers as well pending Beetlefart makes a plugin for that game (I hope so). To all those hardcore 5E members out there, great work!!

The 2008 Penny Arcade Expo has broken all its own previous records with an estimated 58,5000 attendees. This year, PAX's fifth, saw over 21,000 more visitors than the previous year and exceeded estimate of between 45,000 and 50,000 attendees.
The three-day event took place over the recent weekend in Seattle, and saw visitor figures comparable to the pre-2007 E3 expo in Los Angeles - although the old style E3 event was officially open only to industry employees and journalists.
The 2009 expo is expected to take place at the same time next year, with a PAX East Coast event due to debut in Boston in late March of 2010.
"Overall it was a huge success," says Penny Arcade's Robert Khoo, speaking to website Big Download. "The challenge each and every year is to keep the community and cultural feel of the show intact, and I really think we pulled it off."
"We finally stopped doubling our attendance, but Lord, I'm not sure if we could have handled any more people if they showed up. Key learnings for next year? Better line management and more space!"
-Source Gamasutra I think members of the community should go next year and we should all meet and sport 5e t-shirts!! Who's with me!? lol

Player statistics have been reset. For those who are unaware the community resets player stats EVERY month for not only contests but so new players have a chance to have higher ranks.

The Five Elements Community has just added several mirrors (11) to help support the community FPS Banana. For those who are unaware FPS Banana is a HUGE community that allows gamers to upload their own maps/scripts/sounds/skins and a bunch of other stuff to share. According to a recent article at ShackNews Valve plans to add new scenarios to the game's initial 4 as downloadable Content (DLC), as well as new bosses and weapons. This downloadable content is said to arrive faster then the downloadable content for Team Fortress 2, however, we all know "Valve time". For Xbox the DLC hasn't been given a price however with the recent actions from Microsoft and Sony i wouldn't imagine the DLC would be free. It was also said that Valve plans to offer dedicated servers for their Xbox Live players. Most Xbox Live games use peer-to-peer connections, which can impact performance depending on players' internet connections. I would imagine that if games like this start using dedicated server it's only a matter of time before the two worlds collide between Consoles and PC's. This also may be something that the community may be able to dip our hands into.
